Both captains hold a United States Coast Guard (USCG) "Six-Pack" license — the federal license required to legally take paying passengers out on the water. Think of it like a commercial driver's license, but for boats. Every tour you take with us is led by a federally licensed professional.
Michael and Mike have spent extensive time on Lake Huron and know these waters, the wildlife, and the weather better than anyone. Safety isn't just a checklist for them — it's second nature.
Our boat is inspected before every season and before every departure. Here's what we carry on every single tour.
A properly fitted, USCG-approved life jacket is provided for every passenger at no charge — including children. Wearing one is required at all times for children under 6 years old. All other guests are strongly encouraged to wear theirs throughout the tour.
Our vessel carries a fully stocked marine first aid kit, reviewed and restocked at the beginning of every season.
Every tour includes a marine VHF radio, flare kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency anchor — all inspected before each departure.
Our boats are equipped with modern GPS chartplotters and depth finders so your Captain always knows exactly where we are.
The Captain makes the final call on all weather-related cancellations. Guest safety always supersedes the tour schedule.
Light rain does not automatically cancel a tour. The Captain will assess conditions and make the final call no later than 2 hours before departure.
Depending on wind direction, if sustained winds exceed 15 mph or gusts exceed 20 mph, the tour will be cancelled for safety. You will receive a full refund.
Any presence of lightning or thunder within 10 miles results in an automatic cancellation. No exceptions — Lake Huron and lightning do not mix.
Tours run as long as it is safe on the water. Dress appropriately for the conditions — and expect to get splashed a little! Bring a layer if it is cool or windy.
Refund Guarantee: If your Captain cancels your tour due to unsafe conditions, you will receive a full refund. We will notify you by email and text no later than 2 hours before your departure time.
